Why bring couples workshops to communities? It is no secret that marriages and families are in crisis in many of our communities, as evidenced by domestic violence; substance abuse; child abuse, neglect, and abandonment; juvenile delinquency; suicide; divorce and separation, etc. The consequences are tremendous: child welfare workers, police, courts, behavioral health, and substance abuse providers dedicate significant resources to dealing with the ill effects. As a marriage and family therapist and a Certified Gottman Therapist who has worked in community mental health with Native Americans and Spanish-speakers, I am passionate about bringing quality, research-based couples workshops to non-profit organizations and communities with high needs. I have used the Gottman Method in my own work and have found it to be effective in helping couples enhance their friendship and intimacy and manage conflict in their relationship, thereby helping to create healthier communities.
The Art & Science of Love Couples Workshop has been shown to produce positive results for 86% of those who attend and to achieve results similar to those of 6 months of marital therapy.
